In the gated community of Laurel Ridge, this freshly renovated home on Orchard Knob Lane sits high on the mountain with spectacular views. Two wonderful decks overlook these views and offer great opportunities for total relaxation. Easy access at the front door includes separate parking and a ramp. The upstairs deck boasts a lovely fireplace and extra comfortable seating area along with dining space. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped. A spacious downstairs bedroom with a den and gas fireplace, and double car garage make Orchard Knob a great place to get away from it all! Only 15 minutes from downtown Black Mountain and 35 minutes from downtown Asheville.

HOUSE LAYOUT:
Main Level- Kitchen, dining area, living room, half bath, BR with king and bay window has an amazing view and a spacious full bath. Second BR with King and handicap-accessible shower.
Lower Level- Third BR with the queen, gas logs, and sleeper sofa shares Jack and Jill bath with the Fourth bedroom which has a king-sized bed. All bedrooms access the large deck (the outdoor TV is locked behind a cabinet and not available to use). Some pets are allowed with an additional fee.

Please Note: SHEETS AND TOWELS INCLUDED for your convenience. Orchard Knob has a 3-night minimum stay. Per Laurel Ridge HOA restrictions: NO campers, RVs, recreational vehicles, or ATVs. Any such vehicle could be towed at the renter's expense.

The Million Dollar View

What a special vacation. The house was clean, beds comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. We even had a bear sighting which made everyone happy! But the star attraction was the view. Absolutely fabulous. We'll be remembering it for a long time.

Dear Graybeard, We loved staying at Orchard Knob. We seven women have been meeting for a long weekend of cooking, hiking, laughing crying -- in places all over the country -- for 28 years and we all agreed this was the best house we've ever rented. The King beds in all but one bedroom made rooming together so much easier. The kitchen was beautifully equipped (and we cooked every meal). The DOUBLE RAINBOW on our last evening was awe-inspiring. And your follow-up and responsiveness to our queries was incomparable and so personalble. Thank you. A couple of comments for the future: (1) there is a bit of a black ant problem in the upstairs bathrooms, especially the master. (2) We were unable to light the gas grill despite three of us being regular gas grill users. The note on the grill is ambiguous -- needs to be more clear. Better instructions would be appreciated. (3)The icemaker needs defrosting or something. It spews ice cubes every time you open the freezer door. Something seems clogged. Thanks again.

Compared to Airbnb or other similar organizations, Your service and attention to Detail was first class. Truly a surprise when you book as often times there might be a little bit of overpromising on other sites we look at, and some under delivering with items such as lack of towels, soap, and sometimes even cleanliness or other amenities. However, in this case, you guys were absolutely top-notch on every detail needed!! on a separate note I do apologize as we were making a strip loin on the gas grill and we mistakenly melted two thermometers. Please let me know if you would like us to pay for those. We would be more than happy to honor this . Hoping to return soon. Warmest regards.~The Yanes and Schinker families!

Wonderful home and beautiful view. Home is well designed and is very relaxing. Enjoyed many family talks on the porch watching the gorgeous view. Black Mountain and Montreat just minutes away. Saw different wildlife normally from the car which was a treat. This house is not remote since other houses nearby but very quiet and private

We had a great stay in Laurel Ridge, Black Mountain. The house was perfect for our trip w/ our dog. The top porch was perfect for her to run around and be outside. The house has great spaces for everyone to be in their own area. There is a lot of places to walk. It's close to downtown Black Mountain and not far from Asheville or Hendersonville. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving vacation.

The house and the view are both gorgeous! It's a great location, close to Black Mountain, but secluded. The views cannot be described adequately. Just WOW!

The views from Orchard Lane are much better than the pictures illustrate. The outdoor living space is fantastic; loved that the back porch had a gate so the dog could hang out freely with us. Being able to park in the garage was a big plus for us too

The excellent accommodations were perfect for our family-lots of space and privacy for everyone.
The handicap bathroom was such a help.
Since it was Thanksgiving week, we did lots of cooking and the appliances were excellent.

The house was perfect for our trip. We loved it! It is spacious, clean, well maintained and has a wonderful deck with a gorgeous view. Every bedroom is spacious and has a beautiful view overlooking the valley and access to the decks. The kitchen is well stocked. The furnishings are comfortable and in great condition. The over all atmosphere is very relaxing and comfortable. So, you can see that we loved the house. The gas logs in the outside fireplace did not work and that would have been nice. The house is convenient to Black Mountain and just a short drive to Asheville. We enjoyed exploring both towns. But most of all, we enjoyed sitting on the deck reminiscing and spending time around the dinning table. We did not want to leave!

We enjoyed relaxing on the comfortable outdoor furniture on the large decks overlooking a gorgeous view of the mountains. It was so peaceful and rejuvenating; we spent hours there. Each of the bedrooms and bathrooms was roomy and comfortable.

COMFORTABLE FURNITURE. Comfortable furniture inside and on both decks. Love that this house had 4 recliners in the living room. Also love that the upper deck had a large living area that was COVERED in addition to the open deck area. Loved that the main deck had a nice, large, outdoor table....comfortable seating.

The owners have updated the appliances in the kitchen and they are wonderful! While our stay was too short, the view off the deck and the comfort of our home away from home gave us a needed attitude adjustment.

The weather was cool during our stay. We used the outdoor fireplace and found ourselves spending lots of quality time enjoying the warmth and taking in the incredible views during the day and especially during the evening. The house was very comfortable and the kitchen had all the amenities we needed. As always, we wished we had booked a longer stay.

Orchard Knob is a spacious and beautiful home. The each room has it's own spectacular view. Downtown Black Mountain is just a short ride away. We loved everything about our stay! Hope to be back again.

What a wonderful place! As a group of 8 adults, it is sometimes difficult finding the perfect amount of room with the personal space for each of us. We loved this house because the bedrooms were very large with sitting space in each room as well as king beds in the majority. Each bedroom has it's own bath plus a 1/2 bath out in the living room for everyone to use. It worked out perfectly.
We loved the mountain setting and the beautiful fireplaces inside and out. I conquered my fear of driving steep inclines for sure, but the drive is SO worth it!
Even better, the fitness option of walking the roads!

Fantastic experience! We had been moved to this property when the property we rented was not accessible due to a flood. This was a blessing in disguise. Renee at Greybeard was fantastic and helped us out so much. When we say the property we rented we were disappointed after staying at this great property one night. Renee allowed us to move our whole crew back to this property for the rest of our trrip. We will be using Greybeard again, and likely staying at orchard knob again.

We gathered our family together for a peaceful rest and time to reconnect and rejuvenate before the Fall push began for school and work. Orchard Knob has become a second home for us, one that provides us with a connection to nature and the village atmosphere we love within a ten minute downhill drive. A flock of wild turkeys would greet every day and allow us to admire their natural beauty. Every stay is too short as Orchard Knob creates in us a desire to never leave.

We loved the house with its comfortable furnishings and especially loved sitting out on the covered deck. The views were incredible. Our family rented Orchard Knob for 4 nights over the New Year holiday weekend. This rental is beautiful, clean, and fully equipped with everything you could need. The mountain views are incredible! Greybeard Rental Co. was great to work with and we appreciated their attention to detail. The coffee maker was broken and they replaced it immediately. We would definitely stay here again. We highly recommend Greybeard to potential vacationers to the Black Mountain/Asheville area.

This house is wonderful for all ages. We had six adults and four children under 5. The children loved running on the porch and the adults enjoyed the wonderful outdoor furniture, fireplace and amazing view. Family pictures were taken on the deck showing the beautiful Swannanoa Valley. Cannot say enough about this house!!

While I could go on about the 4 oversize bedrooms or well stocked kitchen, the reason to rent here is the fabulous deck with it's comfortable covered seating and large dining table that allow you to just relax and take in the wonderful view. Could have the entire weekend just drinking wine, eating and relaxing.

We wanted a place with a great view and lots of outside space. We found both in this outstanding rental.

The porches are the real star of this location. Tons of room, outdoor sectional, and most importantly a fireplace. This is where we spent the entire weekend.

The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for the weekend. All the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable.

We would absolutely come back the next time we are looking for a mountain house.

This place is beautiful. More warm and friendly than the photos show. Very well kept & clean. There is a very nice propane grill. Also there are 3 propane fireplaces. The view is OUTSTANDING and second to none. All four rooms are spacious with beautiful views. There is a sleeper couch in one of the lower bedrooms (one with a fireplace) and a fold-up bed as well.

Recently renovated and refreshed, beautiful, spacious, well-equipped, home with a gorgeous view and covered deck with fireplace. The floor plan of this home is perfect for a large family or a couples mountain get-away - split plan upstairs with 2 master suites & two spacious bedrooms down with large \"Jack & Jill\" bath. One bedroom has sitting area (including sleeper sofa & fireplace). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We've always enjoyed our stays at Orchard Knob, this time was no different. There has been some remodeling and some new areas added to the deck. The view has been improved by some selective clearing of the trees, the result is awesome.

This is a large home and has some really great views. The kitchen is fully stocked. The house has windows and deck across the whole back of the house. The only two things my family wished could be improved on were larger tv in great room and better tv downstairs. On rainy days it's nice to have a larger tv for the family to watch a movie together. Then perhaps a gas or charcoal grill. We had a great time and made some great memories here. I know I learned some new card games while enjoying the views outside. Restaurants and grocery stores are close, yet when you are at the home you feel you are miles away from it all. Thanks to Greybeard Rentals for finding this home for us at the last minute. It helped us to have a good vacation with our children. Which is priceless.

We enjoyed our stay and only wish it could have been longer. The house has been updated with some different furnishings and is even more like home than before. The view is better this year due to some work done on the surrounding trees. We've stayed here for several years now and always look forward to our time here with great anticipation. We had a peaceful and restful stay. The Black Mountain area is wonderful any time of the year and this was the case again during this visit. Three couples met for the New Year and the house was perfect for us. The upstairs split bedroom plan and the downstairs bedroom and den allowed my niece, her husband and two very small children to have their own private separate space. The kitchen was very comfortable for cooking and well-stocked. The views are beautiful and there is a lovely walk to the top of the mountain. The layout of the house was excellent for privacy and lots of living space for family interaction.

FAQs

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Orchard Knob is located in Black Mountain within the private gated community of Laurel Ridge. Please note that this community restricts the use of ATVs and hiking on private property.

Orchard Knob is approximately 10 minutes to downtown Black Mountain and 30 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

This property offers a flexible cancellation policy that differs from the standard cancellation policy. The policy for this home is the moderate policy. The terms of the policy are as stated: Bookings canceled at least 30 days before the start of the stay will receive 100% refund. Bookings canceled at least 14 days before the start of the stay will receive 50% refund.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Orchard Knob is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Orchard Knob has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months.

Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Orchard Knob. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
