Luxurious and exquisite home in Black Mountain's charming Village of Cheshire. "Idle Awhile" at this 3 bedroom, 3 bath home featuring luxury, custom interiors, and cathedral ceilings. The owners, an interior designer, and a landscape architect have carefully and thoughtfully designed this home to make you feel at home. Stay in and enjoy the chef's kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances, cookware, a wine cooler, and a coffee bar. Relax by one of two gas fireplaces or out on the patio by the outdoor fire pit.

Grab a cup of coffee or glass of wine and revel in the huge wrap-around porch with lots of cozy lounge seating and dining space. The living room and den, along with every bedroom, are equipped with a flat-screen TV and feature cable and/or streaming access. All bedrooms have new memory foam mattresses, along with down comforters and down/feather pillows. Idle Awhile is within walking distance to Beradu, Sake Sushi, or Black Bear Tavern in Cheshire. You're also less than 5 minutes to downtown Black Mountain and 15 minutes to downtown Asheville.

House Layout: Main Level- fully equipped chef's kitchen with gas range, dishwasher, wine cooler, and coffee bar (standard drip coffee maker, Keurig, and an espresso machine); dining area with seating for 6; living room with 55" TV and gas fireplace; master bedroom with king bed, 55" TV, and en suite bathroom (walk-in shower and huge soaking tub). Lower Level- den with 60" flat screen TV, gas fireplace, and desk; full bath with walk-in shower; bedroom with king bed, TV, and sitting area. Upper Level- bedroom with queen bed and TV; full hall bath with shower/tub combo; sitting room with TV. Outdoors- wrap-around porch with seating and dining area; back patio with 4 Adirondack rockers, outdoor fire pit (Duraflame logs preferred), and gas grill.

Note: Idle Awhile is pet-friendly with an additional pet fee. Duraflame logs are preferred for the outdoor fire pit if used during your stay. This home will not allow reservations greater than two weeks unless otherwise approved by the owner. Idle Awhile is laid out on three floors, and the main entrance requires you to use 2 flights of exterior stairs (approximately 14 steps). This home is not suitable or recommended for groups with mobility concerns.

We had such a wonderful time in the lovely Idle Awhile. Over the years we have stayed at several treehouses in Cheshire Village - and Idle Awhile was one of the nicest. The kitchen was amazing and stocked with everything we needed. We spent lots of time on the beautiful wrap around porch. When we arrived a HVAC technician was there working on the main level AC unit. We were informed that a part was needed and would not arrive for several days. Due to the amazing customer service we have come to expect from Greybeard, our vacation continued as planned. They were in constant communication with us, and quickly solved the issue by installing two window units, which made the home very comfortable. It helped that the house is surrounded by beautiful trees, which kept it cooler even during warm July days. Thank you Greybeard- we look forward to our next visit to Cheshire Village in one of your amazing properties!

We loved the home and the property! Beautiful area and such a fun spot. Our stay was close to perfect, as the water heater wasn’t working and the cleaning items were broken. We went without showers for 2 days. After driving 8 hours with 2 toddlers that was a little frustrating. Thankfully this was fixed and the rest of our week was great!

What a wonderful vacation home! My friends and I had a lovely stay at Idle Awhile. The home is beautifully decorated and well-appointed which contributed to the relaxing atmosphere of the location (Cheshire Village). We spent mornings and evenings on the large front porch that featured comfortable seating and a table the perfect size for the three of us. We are hoping to return to this location soon!

Enjoyed entertaining friends in this home; High end appliances, dining area that could accomodate 10,Gas logs, relaxing front porch, Within Cheshire Village which is unique and beautiful while also convenient to town. My guests were older and did have some challenges with stairs , but they did amazingly well by entering through the lower level and taking inside stairwell.

The house is just beautiful, with plenty of open space to gather, play games, and talk. We especially liked the wrap around covered porch with its comfortable furniture, where we were able to enjoy the changing fall colors of the surrounding forest. Although we had six people in our group, there was plenty of space for each of us to retreat to when we needed some rest. The house was immaculate and stocked with everything we needed for our stay. It is conveniently located close to both Asheville and Black Mountain, and the Village of Cheshire was charming for evening strolls.

Lovely home in a great neighborhood with plenty of space for our family and dog to enjoy. Exactly as advertised. Highly recommend hiking the Graybeard Trail in Montreat while you are there.

This 3 bedroom house is so precious! You can tell an interior designer and landscape architect were behind all the details. Perfect square footage and public and private spaces.

The cabin was very clean and with quality furnishings. The porch had awesome comfortable stylish seating. We were very happy with our stay and we were able to bring our well behaved dog. Definitely would rent again. Exceeded expectations.

What a beautiful house . Had a great rustic chic feel. The tall wooden doors, the hardwoods and the kitchen were gorgeous . Worked well for 2 couples (each couple on own floor and the 2 school age kiddos on 3rd floor with their own Netflix to binge. Super helpful greybeard staff. Close to downtown Black mountain and walkable to a cute market to buy more wine. Kids loved the neighborhood seesaw

The house was very nice and the community is beautiful. The pillows and the bedding were extremely comfortable. We had a hard time getting out of bed each day. The area is filled with many dining options and beautiful trails to hike. We plan to return. And, the rental company is outstanding.

The house was amazing and comfortable. You could stay in one room together or spread out in other rooms. We absolutely loved this home and we could tell that someone else loves it too.

The house was absolutely stunning, it was designed beautifully and large enough for two families with young kids to spread out and have space for the weekend. We loved the indoor/outdoor living with the firepit and front patio. We had a little hiccup while there but the management team was very responsive and quickly addressed all of our questions. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to others.

It rained almost the entire time we were there, but we loved sitting on the porch and watching the rain with coffee in hand. The house was comfortable and the location was great.

So, we stayed at the property called Idle Awhile and it was an amazing getaway. I booked the place for my husband's birthday and invited two of his best friends and their wives and everyone had an enjoyable time. It was worth every penny, very close to Ashville where we spent a lot of our time at and beyond what we expected. The staff at Greybeard was very helpful. We got into town a little earlier than expected and was able to get into the home with no problems. We definitely look forward to using Greybeard Rentals again and hopefully the same rental home

The house was just as pictured on the website. Very clean and well appointed. Graybeard Rentals was easy to use and provided useful email messages throughout the process.

FAQs

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Idle Awhile is located in Black Mountain. This home is approximately 5 minutes to downtown Black Mountain and approximately 20 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Idle Awhile is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Idle Awhile has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months.

Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Idle Awhile. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
