Large Montreat Home with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms; great for accommodating a family or group attending a conference. The house is split into two levels, each with its own kitchen and living area. The floors are connected by a covered outdoor stairwell. The main floor only has central air. The whole house is available for rental in summer only (the fireplace is not usable during the summer). Dale House is less than 10 minutes away from downtown Black Mountain, where you can pick up groceries or dinner at some of our locally owned restaurants.

HOUSE LAYOUT: Upstairs: Kitchen, living room, BR with queen and full bath, BR with two twins, BR with two twins, full hall bath. Downstairs: Kitchenette, living room, BR with queen, BR with two twins, full hall bath, rec room with twin bed.

Please note: This home has a very steep, curvy driveway. Please do not back down the driveway. There is space for up to four cars or two cars and a van. There's a small, graveled spot about 100 yards east on John Knox for additional parking. You cannot access the separate downstairs apartment from the main house. Sheets and towels are NOT supplied. NO TV SERVICE or landline phone. Wireless internet during summer conference season only. THE FIREPLACE IS NOT USABLE.

We enjoyed the house and it worked pretty well for our group. It was not ideal to have a second floor with no access from the first floor. We had youth in the house without an adult downstairs. We would prefer to be closer to the center of Montreat. Although we could (and did) walk (sometimes) a closer house would be better. AC was great. Greybeard was wonderful in responding promptly to our questions about the stove. Signs need to be changed about trash pick-up. We put ours out on Friday exactly at 8:00 AM (as the signage said) and the bears got it first (by 8:20). Those bears know how to read!!!

Our group used the Dale House for our Montreat housing this summer and it fit well with our needs. It was a center for our group to connect and entertain ourselves with room for everyone to enjoy cards, reading, hiking, and eating. Although the driveway and the walk from the Conference Center was quite a hike the house was easily located. With a separate basement to split between the guys and girls, it was easy to make sure everyone was comfortable and had their own space. I would only think the downside was the amount of space for our vehicles was tight, considering the steepness of the driveway. We had 2 vans and a SUV. I would recommend editing the description to say 3-4 cars, not 5.

We had a great time staying here! Had a little trouble figuring out how to access the lower level, but found the keys to the lower doors and were set at that point. Would definitely stay here again!

FAQs

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Dale House is located in Montreat. This home is approximately 10 minutes to Black Mountain and 30 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance . Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Dale House is not “pet friendly”. Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival. Early check-in is not available during the summer conference season. 

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will pick up keys from our Black Mountain office, located at 204 East State Street. Keys will be available starting at 4:00 pm. If you are arriving after hours, you will receive instructions on how to access the safe on our front porch. There will be an envelope with your name and house name at the top. Your keys and driving directions will be inside the envelope.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

IS THERE A USABLE FIREPLACE?

The wood burning fireplace at this house is not operable, as the home is only open in the summer.

Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Dale House. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
