The Asheville Tourists is our area's minor league baseball team. Their historic McCormick Field home stadium near downtown Asheville opened in 1924, and its small size always generates a large level of game-day excitement. ESPN.com even named it one of “10 quintessential road tours that capture the best of the majors and minors.”
Previously an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies since 1994, the Asheville Tourists accepted the invitation to become the new Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Houston Astros and joined the High-A East League in February 2021.
While tourist-ing in Asheville, head downtown, grab a hot dog, a box of Crackerjacks, and a cold beer and make the most of those long summer nights by embracing small town Americana. Crowd-favorite Thirsty Thursdays are a particularly great day to catch a game, as the beer is just a dollar!
