Ideally located just steps away from the private & upscale Camp Lake James community, this four-bedroom, four-and-one-half-bath sleeps up to 8 people comfortably and offers an expansive deck and screened porch, an indoor gas fireplace, an outdoor fire pit, a gas grill, and a private boat dock for easy lake access. Inside, the home is filled with sleek high-end furnishings and numerous upscale amenities. 

The primary bedroom boasts a California King bed while the upstairs and downstairs guest rooms both have Queen beds. The downstairs Bunkroom has two sets of bunk beds (the lower bunk is a Full size, and the top bunk is a Twin size) and two Twin Trundle beds underneath. In addition to the amenities at the home, as a guest at Bluegill Lodge, you will also be able to enjoy the exclusive amenities within Camp Lake James for the duration of your stay—take a dip in the pool, explore the lake by kayak, grab a quick bite at the Canteen, curl up by the stone outdoor fireplace, and enjoy community-led activities to your heart’s content.

Located just 45 minutes from Asheville in Nebo, this upscale lakefront home is the perfect place to get away and enjoy everything the Lake James area has to offer. Outside of the community, you can spend your days exploring nearby hiking trails like the Fonta Flora Loop in Lake James State Park or High Shoal Falls in South Mountains State Park before grabbing a refreshing craft beer at Fonta Flora’s open-air brewery at Whippoorwill Farm. Less than 25 minutes away, you’ll find the quaint small town of Marion where you can grab another cold one at Mica Town Brewing Company, fresh seafood and a cocktail at Crabby Abby’s Bar and Grille, or a handcrafted dish paired with the NC staple, Cheerwine, at McDowell Local. Before returning to your home away from home, shop around at the Lake James Antique Mall, or take a short 30-minute drive to the “Simply Charming” town of Morganton where you can find boutiques, novelty shops, regional museums, and art galleries to pick up a souvenir to remind you of your time in the mountains.

Please note: This home is pet-friendly with an additional fee. This home is lakefront and offers its own private boat dock on Lake James to enjoy. For boat rentals, contact the Lake James Neighborhood Store (5 miles away) or Noah’s Landing (11 miles away).

This home offers exclusive access to Camp Lake James community amenities, including a spacious pool & covered pavilion area with a cabana, but please note that the docks and fitness center are private and off-limits. My family had a wonderful time staying at Bluegill. It was really nice to have a couple of days to just relax in beautiful surroundings. I felt like I was in my own home. Of note, the kitchen is particularly well equipped. Usually rentals have rather sad pots and pans and utensils but everything at Bluegill was great.

View of lake, proximity to pool as well as pickleball courts, layout and comfort of home, and the screened-in porch made for a very wonderful, relaxing family vacation. Food at pool was great.

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Bluegill Lodge is located on Lake James within its 1780 neighborhood and offers exclusive access to Camp Lake James amenities. This home is approximately 25 minutes to Marion, 30 minutes to Morganton, 45 minutes to Black Mountain, and an hour to Asheville, and 1 hour and 15 minutes to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Bluegill Lodge on Lake James is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Bluegill Lodge on Lake James has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION & WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD PROVIDED?

Bluegill Lodge on Lake James has an indoor gas logs fireplace and outdoor fire pit. Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months. 

Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses may have a small leftover supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store. Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Bluegill Lodge on Lake James. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.

WHERE AND HOW DO I ACQUIRE A BOAT RENTAL IN LAKE JAMES?

Bluegill Lodge on Lake James offers its own private boat dock on Lake James for guests to enjoy within the designated guidelines outlined by Lake James.
