Ample space with two houses in one! Yale House offers a ground-level studio-style apartment, with a separate entrance, in addition to the main house. Sit on the deck and listen to the creek that borders the property. The creek and wooded surroundings contribute to a cool and comfortable Montreat getaway. Located within a 10-minute walk to Lake Susan and the Montreat Conference Center. There is parking available for up to 5 vehicles. The TVs are streaming only with YouTube TV. While Yale House can comfortably accommodate 16 guests, the dining space utilizes overflow seating on the deck. There is a picnic table and a folding table that can be used for additional seating.

The main house layout includes an open kitchen, dining, and living room area with a TV, full bathroom, and one bedroom on the main floor with a queen bed. The upper floor has a hallway bathroom in addition to 2 bedrooms: each with a double bed and 2 sets of bunk beds. The studio-style basement apartment has a separate entrance with no interior access from the main house. There is a full kitchen, full bathroom, and a queen bed. 

PLEASE NOTE:
1.) This house is not air-conditioned, but there are window units in every bedroom. 
2.) Sheets and towels are NOT provided but can be rented from Greybeard Rentals.

Second year in the house and have already booked it for next year. Our grandchildren call it the treehouse house. It is quiet, secluded, and the creek along with the rustling leaves give peace and serenity to those within.

I always bring my family members and a few others from my church. This house with the apartment works well for our special needs child to retreat and sleep. We bring what we need and appreciate what is there. It is always ready for us. Thank you.

Yale House is in a very secluded location; it's the only house on the road. The Montreat College baseball field has an access road just past the house's driveway, but we saw a total of two vehicles go to and from the field over the course of our week's stay. Our group loved being close to Montreat Conference Center but with the sense of being all alone. Anderson Auditorium is located about a 10 minute walk down Lookout Road but it's a steep hill. The downstairs bathroom has a queen bed not a double as is listed in the description. There are window units in each of the three bedrooms. The house and apartment stayed very comfortable during our stay in the first week of June, likely due to the tree cover. The provided comforters were very lightweight. Our group would recommend bringing additional blankets, particularly if sleeping in the apartment.

Our week at Montreat Music and Worship Conference

Overall, it was a fine house and nicely located for the conference.

There were no dishtowels in the kitchen. Not sure if that was part of linens which we did not rent, but be aware they did not exist.

Window AC units were nice upstairs mostly for keeping the humidity down. A dehumidifier would be nice for the main floor sleeping area and living area.

Screened in deck would have been preferred this time of year because of bugs so we didn't get to use it that much. I imagine other times of year it is nice to sit out there.

Dryer doesn't dry very well. Not sure if it is the heating element or what,but we usually had to cycle modest loads of laundry twice before they were dry.

FAQs

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus a $75 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance . Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Yale House is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash. 

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival. Early check-in is not available during the summer conference season. 

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will pick up keys from our Black Mountain office, located at 204 East State Street. Keys will be available starting at 4:00 pm. If you are arriving after hours, you will receive instructions on how to access the safe on our front porch. There will be an envelope with your name and house name at the top. Your keys and driving directions will be inside the envelope.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Yale House. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
