This large historic home offers great space for groups coming to Montreat and is in an ideal location adjacent to the Conference Center. There are six bedrooms, each with charming decor and individual character, a new large gathering space, and a renovated kitchen with 2 sinks, dishwashers, and refrigerators.

HOUSE LAYOUT:
Main Level: Kitchen, living, and dining area; Bedroom with a full and twin; Bedroom with queen and twin; Half bath; Full hall bath.
Upper Level: Bedroom with two twins; Bedroom with two twins; Bedroom with a twin and a full bed; Bedroom with a twin and a full bed; Full hall bath; Full hall bath with shower only (no tub).

PLEASE NOTE: This house only has A/C on the first floor. SHEETS AND TOWELS are NOT provided. You can rent linens through Greybeard Rentals. There is no TV, but there is WIFI. There is no landline phone but cell service is best on the front porch.

From mid-August to mid-May, Lookout Legacy rents the main floor for $1,100 per month. It has 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths, a living room, and a kitchen. The renter will put water and power in their name. Wifi is included with the rent. Limit to 3 students. During the harsh winter months, the heating bill could be high.

Great option for Montreat conference attendees

Overall

The house was ideal for our youth group while attending a Montreat conference. It was casual and rustic with plenty of space, a large dining table so we could invite friends to join us, several chairs on the porch for enjoying morning coffee, and two refrigerators to allow for plenty of food storage. The location is ideal -- an easy walk to the Lookout Trailhead and just a couple blocks to the auditorium and other conference spots. It's not fancy, and the home could use a little TLC--definitely need to fix or replace the dishwasher -- but we didn't mind creaky doors and mismatched dishes because that's not what we were looking for. Definitely recommend for those with similar needs! We will stay here again.

Overall

This was a good space for our group. Highlights: location, porch, large kitchen, large dining table. The dishwasher should be replaced. It does not effectively clean. There is a roof leak in the small upstairs bathroom.

A group of us has stayed in this house on Greybeard for more than 10 years. It's like a second home. It is comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen. There is a large table where our big group plus friends can sit together for dinner. The big front porch has a swing, table and rocking chairs. It's also great to have a washer and dryer, dish washer, toaster oven and 2 refrigerators for all the groceries. There are plenty of glasses, dishes, pots and pans. We always reserve it for the next year before heading home.The fabulous view and the mountain air are a nice bonus!

Our youth group rents this house every year, and we love it. The kids always say they feel like they've come home when we arrive. It's sleeps a lot of people without feeling crowded. It's old and charming. The kitchen is perfect for a large group with its two refrigerators and stoves. It's not brand new, so if you're looking for new, this is not the place for you. But if you love an old home with slanted floors and furniture that can't be ruined and a great front porch with rocking chairs and a porch swing, then you will love this old house. It's like going to my grandma's house!

There is a group of us who has rented Lookout Legacy for 12 years, I believe. It had just gone on the market. We have rented it for the same week every year since. It has a very large kitchen with two refrigerators and two double sinks, great for people to prepare meals and clean up for a big group. And the dining area is big. The sizeable front porch with a swing is a great gathering place as are the living and family rooms. It is in a perfect location -- easy walking distance to the church, Lake Susan, Assembly Inn, the gift shops, pottery classes, boats, Huckleberry lunch/snack/supper spot...On those rare occasions when we need repairs the property manager makes sure someone is there the same day to get it fixed. We love this house and always renew our contract for the next year before we leave. In addition we have recommended this property and Greybeard Realty to others. The restaurants in Black Mountain (2 miles) are excellent including the best pizza at My Father's Pizza, excellent German, bbq, home cooking and Italian restaurants. And Asheville is 30 minutes with interesting shopping and great restaurants. There are two large grocery stores and pharmacy about 10 minutes away. Montreat has a wonderful playground and tennis courts plus streams for rock hopping and trails for hiking -- all near the house. Or the Blue Ridge Parkway, a scenic drive with great hiking trails, is about 30 minutes. For those of us who return year after year, it's our home away from home. We love Montreat and having this house to stay in makes it an ideal vacation and brings us back year after year.

We have been renting this house for our youth group every year for the past several years, and we love it. The kids always say they have \"come home\" when we arrive at Lookout Legacy. We all feel that way. I love everything about this house, especially the kitchen. Having two stoves and two refrigerators is helpful when feeding a small army!

Members of our church have been attending the Worship and Music Conference at Montreat for 10 years, and every year we have stayed at LOOKOUT LEGACY! The ideal location allows us to walk to all the activity sites in Montreat -- a big plus. It isn't a luxurious house -- but very comfortable and homey. The large kitchen is great, and the big dining area enables us to entertain the friends we've made through the years with some wonderful dinners. The large front porch with rocking chairs and a swing is a bonus. I have been going to Montreat since the 60s and honestly don't think there is another house available that would meet our needs and provide us with all the amenities of Lookout Legacy. We always reserve our week a year ahead and look forward to our return from the moment we turn in our keys. Also, Greybeard Rentals is great to work with and responds immediately should you have any problems big or small. They certainly contribute to making your stay a positive one.

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Lookout Legacy is located in Montreat. This home is approximately 10 minutes to Black Mountain and 30 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance . Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Lookout Legacy is not “pet friendly”. Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival. Early check-in is not available during the summer conference season.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will pick up keys from our Black Mountain office, located at 204 East State Street. Keys will be available starting at 4:00 pm. If you are arriving after hours, you will receive instructions on how to access the safe on our front porch. There will be an envelope with your name and house name at the top. Your keys and driving directions will be inside the envelope.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have a small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store.

Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Lookout Legacy. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
