Beer isn't the only popular drink that graces the Asheville's bar scene. From Black Mountain to Asheville, a variety of cideries, sake, and ginger beer breweries can be visited. Whether you are gluten-free or not, you'll want to include these spots on your tasting tours.
Cider
Urban Orchard
West Asheville's Haywood Road is home to Urban Orchard Cider Company. The cidery is located just below the Cider Bar, and the bar also sells bottles that can be purchased as well as small bites, salads, snacks, and desserts.
Noble Cider
Noble Cider was Asheville's first cidery and is located west of downtown. They are open Wednesday through Sunday, serving nearly 15 ciders and a selection of craft beers if you have a non-cider drinker along for the visit.
Black Mountain Ciderworks and Meadery
Next-door neighbor to the popular Black Mountain brewery Pisgah Brewing, Black Mountain Ciderworks has some great ciders in a variety of flavors, ranging from their flagship cider Pomona to a blueberry and cardamom cider to Zephyrus, a candied orange peel and fresh ginger cider. A lot of variety and they also specialize in fermented honey wine, also known as mead.
Ginger Beer and Sake
Ginger's Revenge
Housed in an industrial building, Ginger's Revenge Tasting Room is easy to miss, but worth not missing. They typically offer nearly 10 in-house alcoholic ginger beers ranging from their award-winning 'Original' with Hawaiian ginger, cane sugar, grapefruit juice habanero pepper, and spices to the Lime Agave, which is their version of a Moscow Mule. Ginger's Revenge is located north of the Historic Montford area, near the University of North Carolina Asheville's campus.
Ben's Tune-Up
Located in the popular South Slope neighborhood, Ben's Tune-Up offers a beer and sake garden with a selection of 15 rotating craft beers, house-made sake, and specialty cocktails.
