- Downtown Morganton: Cozy up with loved ones on a holiday carriage ride around downtown Morganton. Whether it is a romantic evening for two or an evening out with your family, enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides throughout the holiday season. Rides will be held on Fridays and Saturdays beginning November 19-December 23, 2022. Rides are free on a first come first serve basis on November 19, and tickets are $5 for Adults and $3 for Children 12 and under on all other dates. Carriage Rides may be booked beginning at 5:00 pm on the night of your preferred ride. No call-ahead reservations are accepted. Carolina Carriage Company staff will be on-site beginning at 5:00 pm to take your reservation. Tickets can only be purchased on-site for that night. Rides begin at 5:30 pm and will depart from 111 North Green Street, lasting approximately 15 minutes. Be sure to dress warmly as these rides occur after dark! Don't miss out on Holiday events happening downtown like the Winter Carnival and Christmas Parade.
- Forest City: Decked out with a million lights for Hometown Holidays, this charming small town will make you feel like you've landed in the town square of It's A Wonderful Life. After checking out the Pavilion on Park Square to see the region’s largest, lighted Christmas ornament, cozy up with a cup of hot chocolate and hop on a carriage that winds through the magical display of holiday lights. Offered every Friday and Saturday before Christmas from 6:00-8:45 PM, tickets are $40 per carriage (up to 4 adults or 2 adults & 3 kids). Reservations must be made online in advance (online registration begins November 28 at 12:00 pm). Carriages load at 153 Park Square. Their Hometown Holiday Festivities will be held from November 24, 2022-January 2, 2023!
- Waynesville: This year on Saturday, December 10, and Saturday, December 17 from 6-9:00 pm, the charming town of Waynesville will host A Night Before Christmas, a special holiday celebration downtown that will give you the chance to shop in local boutiques and galleries after hours, enjoy caroling and musical performances, and ride through the winter light displays in a horse-drawn wagon.
- Biltmore Estate: There's nothing like Christmastime at the Biltmore Estate. The magnificent home is decked out with dazzling lights and enchanting displays, making it a favorite holiday staple for locals and tourists alike. Among the many activities offered, carriage rides are a magical way to take in the picturesque views of Biltmore House and its 8,000-acre backyard. Options include the standard 30-minute ride on an 8-passenger surrey, a 60-minute ride on a 6-passenger vis-á-vis carriage, and a 90-minute private ride in an elegant vis-á-vis carriage.
