Carriage House is a charming and cozy cottage nestled in the mountains of Montreat. The home has two levels, each with its own living room, kitchen, bedroom, bath, and washer/dryer. With comfort in mind, the owners have furnished the home with beautiful pieces, and the home includes air conditioning, wireless internet, Youtube TV (streaming service), and other modern amenities.

The top and bottom levels are connected by an outdoor stairwell. A deck is located on the lower level and a screened-in porch is on the upper level. Easy entry to the upper level with parking for 2 cars. Located in Montreat a short drive down to the conference center and Lake Susan, you are also less than a 10-minute drive to downtown Black Mountain where you can pick up groceries or dinner. Asheville is less than a half-hour drive to see the Biltmore Estate.

HOUSE LAYOUT: Upstairs: Kitchen, living room with queen sleeper sofa, BR with queen and full bath with walk-in shower and grab bar for easy accessibility. Downstairs: Kitchenette, sitting area with twin sleeper, BR with two twins, full bath.

Please Note: Carriage House does not provide linens, but they are available to rent through Greybeard. One dog of any size is welcome at Carriage House during your stay for an additional fee. Due to the owner's allergies, regretfully no cats are permitted. To enhance your comfort, all of the mattresses were replaced in August of 2022!

We were very happy with the cottage. We enjoyed our stay and would rent it again. Some realities: upstairs, we had to move a number of (interesting)knick-knacks out of the way to have room for the two of us to live there for a week. However, and more important, there were empty drawers and there was closet space for guests. We kept our empty luggage in the car. Two other points to note is that the entrance to both bathrooms, upstairs and down, is through the bedroom. And, the downstairs is very charming and well-equipped but is two rooms: one large room with twin beds and sitting area, and through an arch, the kitchen/dining room. Those points made, the ambience of the place is that of a beautiful, old, comfortable, well-loved summer place. We would certainly recommend it to others.

a cozy cottage for two, nestled among the trees above Anderson Aud. Well equipped. the lower level would be good for another couple or two youth. The screened porch is an outstanding feature - perfect for dining and relaxing in the late afternoon. It's a steep but doable walk to the cottage, but experienced Montreaters are used to that. Convenient parking. part of an historic property.

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Carriage House is located in Montreat. This home is less than a 10-minute drive to downtown Black Mountain and approximately a 30-minute drive to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus a $75 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance . Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

One dog of any size is welcome at Carriage House during your stay. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems, we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of a $100 nonrefundable fee. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash. 

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival. Early check-in is not available during the summer conference season. 

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will pick up keys from our Black Mountain office, located at 204 East State Street. Keys will be available starting at 4:00 pm. If you are arriving after hours, you will receive instructions on how to access the safe on our front porch. There will be an envelope with your name and house name at the top. Your keys and driving directions will be inside the envelope.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

IS THERE AN OUTDOOR FIRE PIT? 

This home does not provide an outdoor fire pit. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit, and you cannot bring your own portable fire pit. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Carriage House. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
