As of 2024, the Chow Chow Festival and Non-Profit have shut down permanently.
The 2023 Chow Chow gastro extravaganza, sponsored by many local businesses, will take place September 7-10, 2023, and include many fun, delicious, immersive, meaningful, and educational events that celebrate and enrich the unique foodways of Southern Appalachia!
Chow Chow (named after a pickled relish that is popular in southern Appalachia) is a food festival in Asheville that celebrates chefs and the local food scene through a grand tasting event, chef demos, and much more. The Travel Channel recently named Asheville "New Top City for Wine in the United States" and Southern Living called Asheville one of the "Tastiest Towns in the South."
This event has been brought to Asheville by the minds of Chef Katie Button of Curate, Chai Pani owner Meherwan Irani, French Broad Chocolate Lounge's Jael Rattigan. Angel Postel, founder of Charleston's Wine & Food Festival will be the event director.
