Every year beginning in November, the Biltmore Estate hosts its annual tradition of decorating the home and grounds with spectacular Christmas decorations. This is the best time of the year to visit the Biltmore House and experience the true grandeur and beauty of the Estate.
Annual Christmas Tradition at Biltmore Estate
This tradition dates back to when the home first opened to George Vanderbilt’s guests on Christmas Eve in 1895, more than 120 years ago. This year the event will be held from November 5, 2021 - January 9, 2022. The magic of the decorations and holiday lighting make this the best time to visit the Biltmore. Decorating the Biltmore for Christmas is a major undertaking that requires many hours and staff members.
There are over 100 decorated Christmas trees, 10,000 ornaments, and 100,000 holiday lights. Overall, visiting the Biltmore Estate during the holidays allows you to witness the splendor of the season in a magnificent setting, immersing yourself in the holiday cheer and experiencing the estate's timeless charm.
Daytime Celebration and Candlelight Evenings
You can choose between Christmas at Biltmore Daytime Celebration or Candlelight Christmas Evenings. If you can visit during the evening, we highly recommend doing so to experience the spectacular lights and cozy candle-lit rooms. Daytime is incredible as well with the spectacular decorations in full display and is the more affordable option for a holiday visit. The Daytime Celebration runs through January 9th with the Evenings running through January 8th.

Christmas at Biltmore House Tickets
After deciding on a daytime or evening visit, there are three different options for tickets including:
- Audio Guided Visit - the basic option that includes access to the Biltmore house with an audio guide, gardens and grounds, Antler Hill Village and winery, wine tasting (if available), and free parking.
- Audio Guided Plus Visit - the upgraded option that includes everything in the audio-guided visit plus access to an immersive, multi-sensory experience.
- Expert Guided Visit Plus - the premium experience that includes everything in two lower options plus a 90-minute group tour titled “Guests of the Vanderbilts”. This small-group tour is the ultimate way to experience Biltmore. Your guide will share fascinating stories and take you behind the ropes to parts of the house off-limits to the general public.
Experience the Biltmore Estate During the Holiday Season
In addition to the Biltmore house, make sure to walk through the gardens and grounds which are also decorated and feature dazzling lights at night.
Antler Hill Village is the perfect place to stop before or after you visit the house and includes Cedric’s Tavern, a Creamery, an outfitters store, a home goods store, and the Biltmore winery. There are also exhibits to view and many decorations to take in as you stroll around the village.
