Located within Gateway Mountain's gorgeous & private 3000-acre nature preserve, this luxurious Honka log home is a true mountain oasis & offers a chef's kitchen, an expansive deck, and breathtaking year-round mountain views! On the main level, you'll be swept away by floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a long-range view, including Lake Lure in the distance, and the cozy gas log fireplace in the living room. The open-concept living area offers bar-style seating for 4 near the foyer, formal dining space for 6, and a kitchen equipped with a Viking range and industrial refrigerator. The primary bedroom offers an en suite bathroom with a soaking tub and walk-in shower and access to the fully enclosed sun porch with heated floors and a TV for streaming. Note: There is no longer a functional gas fireplace in this room. Also on the main level is a bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a full bathroom with hallway access. 

Upstairs, you'll find a traditional open-air loft with two queen-sized beds for additional sleeping space. The lower level of the home offers a secondary living space with comfortable seating, a TV for streaming, and a mini-bar complete with a small refrigerator. A second primary bedroom with a king-size bed and en suite bathroom provides additional privacy. Step outside to enjoy a well-manicured lawn with plenty of space to enjoy a mountain breeze. A powder room and large laundry room can also be found on the lower level.

Please note: This home is pet-friendly for an additional fee. There is no longer a gas fireplace in the primary bedroom. No parking is allowed on roadways or at gate entrances. No RVs, boat trailers, camping trailers, or trailers of any kind are permitted in the Gateway Mountain Community. From December through March, AWD or 4WD vehicles are strongly recommended. We also recommend travel insurance for those staying in the Gateway Mountain development during the winter months.

Great House with Private Location

Westover lodge was incredibly comfortable. We loved the private location and beautiful views. Overall the property was very clean, though there were some dead bugs that should have been swept up before our arrival and a couple of lizards we had to evict (but you are in the woods, so a little wildlife is to be expected). we loved the large well stocked kitchen and the super comfy bed in the main level primary suite. Driving through the development was an adventure but well worth it. The waterfall and walking trail area was a fantastic bonus. Would stay again for sure!

Westover Lodge surpassed any expectations we have ever had for a mountain vacation. The house was just fabulous, immaculately clean, roomy, and well appointed. The chefs kitchen was a dream to cook in, and our two dogs thoroughly enjoyed the flat, level back yard. The location was very private and quiet, and we enjoyed the peacefulness of the entire Gateway Mountain community.

Stunning view from a stunning cabin

We enjoyed our recent stay at Westover Lodge. The cabin itself is beautiful and the view from the back deck was perfect. There are a few updates needed, but it was equipped with everything we needed to prepare our meals and provided luxurious comfort while spending time together. Furnishings were very nice and a private bathroom for each bedroom was a bonus. The drive from town is a lot, but very woorth it!

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Westover Lodge is located within the private Gateway Mountain Community in Old Fort. This home is approximately a 20-minute drive to downtown Old Fort, a 30-minute drive to Black Mountain, a 35-minute drive to Marion, and a 45-minute drive to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

This property offers a flexible cancellation policy that differs from the standard cancellation policy. The policy for this home is the moderate policy. The terms of the policy are as stated: Bookings canceled at least 30 days before the start of the stay will receive 100% refund. Bookings canceled at least 14 days before the start of the stay will receive 50% refund.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Westover Lodge is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Westover Lodge is located in a gated community. You must go to our Old Fort Office at 243 Catawba Ave S to pick up your gate card. Driving directions to our Old Fort Office, along with access instructions will be sent out via email. Once you have picked up your gate card, you can proceed to the house. Please do not rely on GPS. We will provide you with driving directions to the home from our Old Fort Office. You will receive check-in instructions prior to your arrival with key access information.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Westover Lodge has an indoor gas logs fireplace. Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months. 

Since this home does NOT provide an outdoor fire pit, absolutely NO fires are permitted outside, and you cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Westover Lodge. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
