Listed on the Historical Registry, the 110-year-old Kitchen Creek is an updated 5-bedroom, 3-bath Montreat home that is group-friendly and located within walking distance of the Montreat Conference Center and Lake Susan. Hang out on the large porch and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Kitchen Creek is equipped with central AC, a Smart TV, a gas grill, and a washer/dryer.

House Layout:
Main Level- Newly and completely renovated kitchen with all new appliances. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances with a dishwasher, ice maker, and a drip-style coffee maker; Separate dining room with a table has seating for 6 (max of 8). Den has a Smart TV and a large porch; Bedroom with 2 twin beds and adjoining full bath (shower only, no tub); Bedroom with a king bed; Bedroom with a queen bed and full bath (tub only with hand-held shower).
Lower Level: Washer/dryer; Full hall bath (shower only, no tub); Bedroom with a twin bed; Bedroom with a full bed and a twin.

Please note: Kitchen Creek does not provide linens, but they are available to rent through Greybeard. WiFi was added in September 2020. Guests must go through the bedrooms to reach the bathrooms on the main floor. The basement is partially unfinished but does have access to central heating/air.

Wonderful house! Great location, amazing deck with a grill and rocking chairs. Enjoyed lots of meals outside. Nice updated kitchen! The upstairs is great and downstairs is good too, pretty musty downstairs, especially in one of the bedrooms. All around great place, we’ll be back!

We enjoyed our stay at Kitchen Creek. The quirky rooms that have been made by enclosing the wrap-around porch (bathroom, twin bedroom, and entryway) worked, but made me think how charming it must have been with the full wrap-around porch! Things to know: The bunkbed room has too low a ceiling. Fortunately we didn't have to use the top bunk. It would not be comfortable, as you couldn't even sit up in it, and we never found a ladder. The bathroom downstairs had a very odd layout that practically put the sink in your lap as you sat on the toilet, and had a tiny shower. You can't get to the bathrooms on the main floor without going through a bedroom - something to consider when thinking about who sleeps where. The kitchen is nicely equipped and very easy to work in as long as you don't have more than 2 people. Above that you bump into each other! The a.c. works well in the living/dining rooms, but the king bedroom would have been very hot had it been a warm week (it wasn't - it rained all week and only got into the 60s). The a.c. exchange in that room produced next to nothing, so thank goodness for the cool weather and ceiling fan. Oh, and there is a resident bear! We dubbed him Charmin as he made off with a bag of toilet paper (unused) from the trunk of our car as we were loading up to leave. He made appearances on the first and last days, to welcome us and say goodbye (and try to steal our t.p.). He was very charming and polite!!

I am happy to share that as a direct result of your feedback, we will be removing the top bed in the bunk room, and we will be adding a note to the description to make guests aware that they must go through a bedroom to reach the bathroom on the main floor. While we're sorry to hear that Charmin made off with your group's toilet paper, we're happy to hear that he was an excellent greeter and fareweller! WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Kitchen Creek is located in Montreat. This home is approximately 10 minutes to Black Mountain and 30 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance . Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Kitchen Creek is not “pet friendly”. Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival. Early check-in is not available during the summer conference season. 

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will pick up keys from our Black Mountain office, located at 204 East State Street. Keys will be available starting at 4:00 pm. If you are arriving after hours, you will receive instructions on how to access the safe on our front porch. There will be an envelope with your name and house name at the top. Your keys and driving directions will be inside the envelope.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have a small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store. Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Kitchen Creek. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
