Please Note: Sheets and towels are NOT provided but can be rented from Greybeard. The home has central air, and there is a mini-split/ductless air system in the upper-level primary bedroom. The partially finished basement has an open area with overflow bedding. Please keep in mind that the lower level of the home has unfinished features (cinderblock walls, exposed pipes, etc). It serves as the perfect bonus space for larger groups that require additional accommodations.

Flat Creek Cottage

Our youth group had a fabulous time in your lovely home! The kitchen and large dinning room were a great place for us to gather around meals, and we also loved the screened in porch and the sounds of and views of the backyard creek! We had enough bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone in our group. We hope to rent again next year, but aren't sure of the dates or size of our group yet. Some feedback for areas of growth. Many of the doors on the top floor (to bedrooms and bathrooms) did not lock. This made students uneasy when changing. At the dining room table 2 chairs were so wobbly we did not feel safe using them, and one more was close but usable. I suggest replacing them. The upstairs queen bed with sleigh bed frame was also very wobbly and creaky. Many of the supports under the bed were bent, which i think attributed to the wobbly-ness of the bed. Please provide instructions on how to use the thermostat in the house. It was confusing and seemed to not stay at the set temperature we left it on in the morning. We had to constantly reset it. The toilet in the basement seemed to be low flow and had a lot of clogging issues. We know there were some issues on our end of the students using too much toilet paper, but even after it was fixed a couple times it backed up again before anyone went number 2. We want to compliment the plumber that came out. He did a great job and was patient. The last thing is that it might be useful to put another railing on the stairway leading to the basement. the stairs are steep and we had a couple people fall. No one was hurt, so all was well, but we believe a railing on the right side going down would have probably prevented the falls, as both people were right handed and reached for something, but found nothing to grab. Overall we give the house a 4/5 and would stay there again, provided the basement toilet is replaced with a high flow toilet or equivalent. It was beautiful, we loved the location, and the spaces big enough for our group to meet together! Thank you for everything!

We had a great stay at Flat Creek Cottage. The house was exceptionally clean upon arrival and such a perfect location. Close to the ball field, tennis courts, playground , and central Montreat. The grandchildren played for hours in the stream which runs through the backyard. The screened in back porch was a delightful place to eat our meals. The house was well equipped and allows dogs!

This was our second stay at Flat Creek Cottage. It's a lovely little home with lots of sleeping space, a large kitchen and dining room, and an incredible screened porch where you can hear and see the creek. It's an easy walk to Lake Susan and main Montreat. We will book again.

Our family enjoyed a delightful stay in Flat Creek Cottage. The cottage was clean and neatly appointed when we arrived. We particularly enjoyed the large open, well appointed kitchen and the delightful screened porch with the babbling creek nearby. Greybeard folk were very helpful in providing information about the cottage and answering particular questions for my stay as well as making the reservation process easy.

We loved the sounds and views of Flat Creek, just behind the house, and the close proximity to the swimming hole, tennis courts, and playground. The large screened-in porch is also a highlight of the home.

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Flat Creek Cottage is located in Montreat within walking distance of Lake Susan, Robert Lake Playground, and Montreat Conference Center activities. This home is less than 10 minutes to Black Mountain and approximately 25 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Flat Creek Cottage is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival. Early check-in is not available during the summer conference season.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Flat Creek Cottage has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

Flat Creek Cottage has an indoor wood-burning fireplace, but it does not have an outdoor fire pit. Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses may have a small leftover supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store.

Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside, and you cannot bring your own portable fire pit. Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Flat Creek Cottage. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
