Spacious living areas mark this easy-to-access, comfortably furnished home. With a new kitchen and paneled great room, it is a splendid venue for reading, visiting with friends, or just rocking and relaxing in the mountain air. There is also a sunroom/dining area and screened deck, both overlooking a large yard with a view of Rainbow Ridge, as well as a study stocked with books. Located in the tranquil community of Montreat, you are just a short drive to the conference center and Lake Susan. The home is also about 5 minutes from downtown Black Mountain, where you can get groceries or dinner in some of our wonderful locally-owned restaurants.

House Layout:
Main Level-Kitchen(with gas range); great room with a flat-screen TV and gas logs fireplace; dining table seats 6; sunroom; main bedroom with a King bed and private bath; study/office; full bath; enclosed deck and covered front porch.
Upper Level-Two bedrooms (with two twin beds in each); shared full bath. Linens are included with your rental.

Please Note: This house does not rent to groups. Homes with gas logs are not in operation from May through the end of September due to the warmer summer months.

My family had a great time staying in this home. The house was very clean and it had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. It was in a beautiful location. We saw deer in the backyard twice! We appreciated that it had a washer and a dryer but unfortunately the dryer was a little tricky. (We found that spinning it manually for a bit was the only to get the start button to work.) All in all, we loved it and we look forward to coming back next year.

Cockrill Cabit is such a pleasant place to stay while visiting with family. The kitchen is very usable, not cluttered, but with everything we need for cooking meals. We enjoyed the fireplace and the view from the dining table. Practically speaking, the gently sloping drive is wonderful - no steep inclines or sharp curves and having a garage is a plus. The porch would be well used in warmer weather.

Lovely place, lovely time of year. It was ideal for a small family get-together. The kitchen is well stocked for home-cooking, without being cluttered. The whole house is very welcoming and comfortable, with space for being together and being on our own. The fireplace is a plus!

Comfortable, easy, accessible, as advertised. Very clean. Many needs anticipated. Areas well marked (like cabinet for extra blankets, etc.) The screened in porch was perfect for my one year old grandson who was just beginning to walk.

Our family spent a very wonderful Christmas vacation at Cockrill Cabit. The home is very welcoming from the moment you drive in. It is spotless, warm, and beautifully decorated. Beds were quality and comfy.We especially enjoyed gathering around the table for meals in the sun room. Gorgeous view of the sun rising over the mountains. We will be back!

Cockril Cabot is a beautiful house in a quaint setting. The sunroom was refreshing and loved the sunroom. Our only complaint about our stay was the on going road construction in front of the house. It would if. Even nice to know that this was going on before we rented on that road. The house was perfect for our small group. I would recommend it to anyone coming to Montreat.

The home was lovely and welcoming, not overstuffed with stuff, but furnished well. Attractive, clean, inviting. Having a level parking place AND a garage was a treat. The view was great, the kitchen well-designed, the beds comfy. What was there not to like? (Only one thing, Charter cable is not renter friendly for families who want to limit TV use.) We will be back to this house, though. It was truly a Montreat retreat.

This is a great setting for a family vacation. The home and furnishings are well maintained, and it is most comfortable. Renters might consider bringing fans as the upper floor does not receive adequate air conditioning.

Cockrill Cabit was perfect for our stay in Montreat. My husband and I shared this well appointed and clean home with another couple while attending a wedding over the weekend. Layout worked well providing both couples privacy as well as a great place to enjoy each other's company. Peaceful setting with beautiful yard to watch nature. Enclosed back porch with wall of windows was our favorite hangout for morning coffee and meals. Highly recommend this property when staying in the area!!

Greybeard Rentals saved our weekend! The ladies, especially Renae, found us a house ten minutes after we walked in the door on Friday morning on one of the busiest weekends of the autumn season! The house, Cockrill Corbit, was just what we needed. We even got a 15% discount. We could not have asked for better service or more friendly attention! The pumpkin bread was also a nice addition to our \"Welcome bag\" !

FAQs

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Cockrill Cabit is located in Montreat. This home is approximately 10 minutes to Black Mountain and 30 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Cockrill Cabit is not “pet friendly”. Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival. Early check-in is not available during the summer conference season.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will pick up keys from our Black Mountain office, located at 204 East State Street. Keys will be available starting at 4:00 pm. If you are arriving after hours, you will receive instructions on how to access the safe on our front porch. There will be an envelope with your name and house name at the top. Your keys and driving directions will be inside the envelope.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have a small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store.

Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Cockrill Cabit. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
