Located within the private, gated community of Gateway Mountain on just over 8 acres, gorgeous scenery, and unparalleled privacy abound at A Celestial Chalet. The wrap-around deck (complete with an outdoor dining table for 4 and a Weber grill) and natural rock platform create no shortage of cozy spots to stargaze and take in the breathtaking long-range views of Mt. Mitchell and Lake George. Various seating can also be found along the short private walking trails around the chalet.

On the main level, you'll find all-new natural acacia hardwood flooring, an upscale living room complete with designer Restoration Hardware furniture, stunning views from every window, and a well-equipped kitchen complete with all-new stainless steel appliances, a range with an air fryer option, and a coffee bar area sweetly beckoning to the chef in your group. The fully screened-in porch, accessed from the dining area, maximizes outdoor enjoyment with a gas fire table and ample seating for up to 5. Also on the main level are two bedrooms; one with a queen-sized bed (and a king-size inflatable bed in the closet) and one with an out-of-this-world king bed. The full bathroom, complete with a new glass-enclosed waterfall shower, toilet with heated seat and bidet, and luxurious heated floors, can be accessed from the hallway.

Upstairs is a traditional open loft with a dedicated workspace, reading nook, and two mammoth LoveSac bean bags to immerse in the year-round views of the mountain vista through the scaling floor-to-ceiling windows. Also in the loft is a king-size bed and en suite bathroom with a walk-in shower, double vanity, luxurious heated floors, and a stackable washer and dryer. After watching the sun dip below the tree-lined mountaintops, pull the curtains gently closed to create a more private space.

Continue to the lower level for the heart of entertainment! Here, you'll find a projector with a 120 screen, elevated recliners, and a cozy daybed with a Twin bed and Twin trundle that will make your favorite family movie come to life. Step outside onto the hot tub entertainment area under bistro-style lighting after a day of exploring, lounge in the Adirondack glider chairs around the newly-added outdoor fire table, prepare a delicious pizza in the new gas-powered Ooni Koda 16 pizza oven, lounge in the suspended hammock overlooking the mountains, or wander through the magical fairy gardens around the property. Not ready to turn in for the night? The shuffleboard table and Hook Ring Toss may inspire some friendly competition.

A stunning and modern mountain getaway that would seem too other-worldly to imagine, A Celestial Chalet leaves no mountain peak unseen and no star unnamed!

Please Note: This home is pet-friendly with an additional fee. This home now offers Starlink internet with starting speeds of 100+ Mbps and a Verizon network extender to assist with better cell phone coverage (i.e. boosts signal to full bars of LTE). The scenic journey to the house where gorgeous views await is steep and curvy yet paved with a small section of gravel before the incline begins. To provide an inviting and grand entrance for guests traveling to the house in the twilight hours, there are thoughtfully arranged landscape lights illuminating the house sign, driveway, and walking paths. 

No RVs, boat trailers, camping trailers, or trailers of any kind are permitted in the Gateway Mountain Community, and no parking is allowed on roadways or at gate entrances.

This home offers a 22 kW Generac whole home generator that is also connected to the hot tub, so your vacation won't be interrupted in the unlikely event of a power outage. The home also offers two air purifier units to keep you enjoying that fresh mountain air inside and out!

This cabin was beyond excellent in every way. Our entire family was speechless at the breathtaking view in every direction. This was the most well-stocked cabin we have ever stayed in. We had more than everything we needed and the cleanliness was beyond belief. Greybeard was communicative at all times and directions were very clear and easy to follow. We will absolutely be booking again, sooner rather than later! What a gem we feel like we have found!

The Celestial Chalet is the perfect family destination in the heart of the Blue Ridge mountains. The house has every amenity you could need, from comfortable, well-appointed bedrooms to a well stocked kitched and even a theater room for family movie night. But the star of the show is the views from the living room and exterior porches. No pictures can ever do it justice. I gasped in amazement at the view the first moment I walked into the chalet, and the impact never wears off. I highly recommend this house for anyone looking for a great family destination that allows you to disconnect, while only being a short drive from the attractions of Asheville. I would give it 10 stars if the ratings allowed.

The house and the views were amazing. Everything was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed the movie theater downstairs and the hot tub. The weather wasn’t great for us and the fog that surrounds the house made travel a little difficult but we made the most of it by hanging out in the house. Only negative is the drive up to this property. The drive is not for the scared at heart or a car that doesn’t have great brakes and a good transmission. It was a terrifying drive in good weather but in the fog and rain made it impossible to leave for us inexperienced drivers on roads like this. Otherwise this place is worth the trip up the mountain.

This cabin has everything! Shout out to the owners for the property itself and the attention to detail. It was set up such that it felt like we were walking into our second home. Had an excellent stay at A Celestial Chalet in Old Fort, NC. Quite far from nearby cities (and a very steep PAVED road up to the cabin) but if you’re looking to just hang out and relax- THIS IS THE PLACE. Literally the most beautiful Mountain View’s you’ve ever seen. Spent a lot of time on the porch swing overlooking the mountains. It rained a couple of the days we were there but the floor to ceiling windows in the living room made even the rainy days wonderful. Cabin itself is decorated beautifully. Movie room and jacuzzi downstairs. Check-in and check-out instructions were very clear and easy to follow. Loved everything about our stay and will definitely be staying with Greybeard Rentals team again!

This is a wonderful home, fully equipped and comfortable for our family of 6 (plus 1 dog). The views of the mountains are stunning. We enjoyed the scenic hike to the falls within the gated community as well as trips to Black Mtn, Montreat, Pisgah, Lake James, Lake Lure and Ashville. Plan your trips as you can’t just hop in your car for a quick errand or trip to the store but when you arrive back after a day of hiking or whatever, you will find the tranquility of Celestial Chalet exactly what you wanted.

Celestial Chalet is a beautiful home. We had an excellent experience. Amazing views, plenty of amenities, and extremely clean. There are tons of little extras and personal touches. You can tell the owners take pride in the property and it shows all over. We hope to come back and enjoy the home one day.

My husband and I traveled nearly 12 hours from flat Florida to Celestial Chalet. The photos on greybeard didn't do the beautiful mountain scenery justice. We were looking for peace and quiet from the city and were not disappointed. The cabin was situated far enough from the neighboring cabins that we didn't hear any noise but nature. The drive from Old Fort to the cabin was definitely a little gut wrenching due to the cabin being at a high elevation, but the paved roads made it less perilous. I would highly recommend AWD or 4WD to any travelers not used to navigating winding and steep roads. The cabin was in pristine condition and tastefully decorated. My husband and I enjoyed playing video games on the 120-inch projector in the game room and relaxing in the hot tub while watching the sunset. The waterfall within the enormous community was also a bonus as it was an easy hike to take in the falls. Only thing I would change about the cabin would be only the fact there is no television in the master suite or one of the lower level bedrooms. Our entry code also didn't work upon arrival, but a quick phone call to Greybeard, and they remotely unlocked the front door within a minute. Excellent customer service. I would highly recommend this cabin to any guests looking for a beautiful, peaceful getaway. In fact, after sharing videos of the views, several people inquired about Celestial Chalet to book their next vacation!

The Chalet was wonderful. We enjoyed every bit from the hot tub, to the theater room, to the absolutely gorgeous view. We enjoyed the privacy and the feeling of disconnect from the city. We will definitely be coming back.

The view is breathtaking! The house was spotless and decorated beautifully. The beds were very comfortable and the human dog bed was fought over daily! The movie theater room and hot tub put everything over the top. Overall an amazing vacation!

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

A Celestial Chalet is located within the private Gateway Mountain Community in Old Fort. This home is approximately a 20-minute drive to downtown Old Fort, a 30-minute drive to Black Mountain, a 35-minute drive to Marion, and a 45-minute drive to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

A Celestial Chalet is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

A Celestial Chalet is located in a gated community. You must go to our Old Fort Office at 243 Catawba Ave S to pick up your gate card. Driving directions to our Old Fort Office, along with access instructions will be sent out via email. Once you have picked up your gate card, you can proceed to the house. Please do not rely on GPS. We will provide you with driving directions to the home from our Old Fort Office. 

A Celestial Chalet has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at A Celestial Chalet. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
