Considered low-impact and easy to learn, Pickleball has become the fastest-growing sport in the U.S. and is a great option for maintaining overall health. While some vacationers may shun their regular routines (especially those involving a workout), others who want to continue playing their favorite paddle sport while on their mountain getaway have several options. Here's a short list of Black Mountain pickleball courts to take advantage of during your stay:

  • Creekside Sports Club near the Village of Cheshire- Offers a full-service pro shop, 6 outdoor pickleball courts, 2 indoor tennis courts, and 4 Har-Tru clay outdoor tennis courts (2 of which are lighted). This premier sports club also offers unbeatable scenery with its creekside location and the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains as its backdrop.
  • Cragmont Park by Lake Tomahawk- This beloved park in the center of town is open from dawn to dusk and offers

several tennis courts (one of which is lined for two pickleball courts). The park also features a pavilion, fishing pier, playground, horseshoe pits, public restrooms, and a walking trail. The Black Mountain Pool is also on-site and open to the public from May 25 to September 2. The stunning Seven Sisters Mountain Range is also on full display which is sure to inspire you during whichever activity you choose.
  • John Lake Park in Montreat- Located in the tranquil town of Montreat, this park offers 8 outdoor hard courts for tennis and pickleball. Its neighboring Robert Lake Park is one of the most peaceful playgrounds around thanks to the babbling brook running through it.  Also nearby is beautiful Lake Susan encircled by historic stone buildings reflected in its water. Walk the circular path around the lake, read in the gazebo, or float atop the water in one of the canoes or paddle boats (only available in the summer season).

So whether you're a beginner or self-professed "picklehead" in search of black mountain pickleball spots to hone your game or simply stay fit while having fun, Black Mountain provides a few beautiful places to relish your favorite game and the great outdoors.

Please keep in mind that some parks are public and free to use while other facilities require memberships and/or appointments to play. Please visit the facility websites for more details!
