Saddle up, Spartans: We’re off to the races at the Tryon International Equestrian Center. This massive venue is typically a global hub for the world’s top horseback riders. But this November, the course will host Spartans from the Carolinas and beyond for 3-mile, 13-mile and 30-mile challenges.
This course is perfect for beginners and elites alike. Its well-trodden trails make for solid running terrain. But don’t let the level ground fool you. You’ll still have to climb through red clay and traverse rushing creeks if you want to reach the finish line.

Spartan Beast is a half marathon, 30 obstacle race engineered to push you out of your comfort zone and right up to your limits. Competitors race through rugged, unpredictable terrain around the world as they tackle each of our signature obstacles. The Beast is a Spartan Trifecta eligible event.
Spartan Ultra is a 50 km, 60 obstacle race built to break your limits over the world’s most difficult terrain. It’s our most intense obstacle course race, but reaching the finish line will leave you with a euphoria that will transform your life. The Ultra is a Spartan Trifecta eligible event.
Spartan Sprint is a 5 km, 20 obstacle race that will change your life. This is our signature race type, a fast-paced adventure through rugged terrain built for new and returning racers alike. It’s the perfect gateway into the world of Spartan. The Sprint is a Spartan Trifecta eligible event.
The location in Mill Springs, NC, is close to our Log Cabin at Stonecrest so you won't have to travel far to the venue that offers plenty of on-site dining and shopping options. Grab a bite to eat at Legends Grille, soak in some live music at Silo Bar, or browse the old-fashioned General Store before or in between events.
You could also take a quick 45-minute drive to the heart of historic Asheville, N.C. to check out the Biltmore House and Gardens that will be decorated for Christmas or the North Carolina Arboretum's Annual Winter Lights display. Since you'll be in Beer City, USA, you'll need to sample some of the best local breweries, and you might as well treat yourself by unwinding after the competition with a spa treatment or massage.
