Asheville Parks & Recreation has some jolly holiday fun planned this year! From December 4-23, 2024 there will be numerous community events to enjoy:
- Candy Cane Flashlight Hunt- 12/4/24 (5:15-7:15 PM) at Carrier Park Picnic Shelter. Search the park for candy canes and enjoy hot chocolate as the sun sets.
- Holiday Lights & Movie- 12/6/24 (6-8 PM) at Burton Street Community Center. Stoll under twinkling lights and cozy up for a holiday movie. Refreshments will be provided.
- Calls from Santa- 12/9/24 (Session 1: 10-11:30 AM and Session 2: 5-6:30 PM) at Stephens Lee Community Center. Kids ages 3-6 can receive a personal call from Santa as he prepares in the North Pole. Please note that advanced registration is required.
- Holiday Cookie Contest- 12/11/24 (1-2:45 PM) at Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Community Center. Whip up the best cookie that captures the magic of the season in a friendly competition with prizes for the top 3 contestants. Please note that advanced registration is required.
- Make a Holiday Wreath- 12/12/24 (5:30-7:30 PM) at Burton Street Community Center. Designed for adults 18+, you'll create a beautiful wreath using embroidery, beads, and other craft supplies. Please note that advanced registration is required.
- White & Silver Bells Brunch- 12/13/24 (10 AM-12 PM) at Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Community Center. An event for ages 50+, participants are encouraged to dress in white and silver bells to join a party with door prizes, a photo booth, and a delicious brunch.
- Breakfast with Santa- 12/14/24 (9 AM and 10:30 AM) at Stephens Lee Community Center. Kids ages 2-9 (accompanied by an adult) will enjoy breakfast with Mr. Claus along with a morning of fun. Please note that advanced registration is required.
- Holiday Bingo- 12/14/24 (1-3 PM) at Burton Street Community Center. Celebrate the most wonderful time of the year at festive bingo. Please note that advanced registration is required.
- Jingle Bell Toddler Party- 12/18/24 (10 AM-12 PM) at Stephens Lee Community Center. Jingle bells, reindeer magic, and a snowball toss are a few of the activities kids ages 1-4 will enjoy along with inflatables, toys, and activity stations.
- Healthy Holiday Treats for Kids- 12/19/24 (5-6:30 PM) at Burton Street Community Center. Designed for kids ages 7-11, this class welcomes families to create festive favorites while prioritizing wellness.
- Elf on a Shelf- 12/20/24 (5-7 PM) at Grove Street Community Center. Designed for kids ages 4-12, this event will have hot cocoa stations, elf games, an elf photo booth, elf scavenger hunts, and more. Please note that advance registration is required.
- Holiday Cookie Exchange- 12/20/24 (2-4 PM) at Grove Street Community Center. Bring your favorite homemade cookies to share and enjoy hot cocoa and apple cider.
- 12 Days of Christmas- 12/6-12/23 (2-4 PM) at Grove Street Community Center. This Countdown to Christmas extravaganza will have different holiday activities each day including Gingerbread House Decorating, Ornament Making, Christmas Movies, Holiday Card Decorating, Christmas Carols, Holiday Trivia & Guess the Holiday Song, and Holiday Minute-To-Win-It.
