There are so many ways to celebrate the 4th of July while staying in the Black Mountain, Marion, Lake Lure, Montreat, and the Asheville area!
- McCormick Field Asheville Tourists - Enjoy Independence Day fireworks with a hot dog in hand at a baseball game on Wednesday, July 3rd at the historic McCormick Field downtown. The first pitch is at 7:05 PM.
- Montreat - A longstanding tradition is the 4th of July Celebration which will take place on Thursday, July 4th starting at 7 AM with the Annual Gait Race 5k, the Montreat Parade at 10:30 AM, Montreat College Book Sale at 11 AM, Old Timers' Softball Game at 2 PM, Ice Cream Social at 2-4 PM, Lawn Games from 2-3 PM, Free Pool, Boats, and Tennis from 2-6 PM, and more. The night ends with a Fourth of July Big Circle Mountain Dance from 7-10 PM.
- Downtown Asheville - Hosts its main Independence Day Celebration on the South Slope between Coxe Ave and Buxton Ave downtown on Thursday, July 4th. The fun begins at noon with a performance by Ultimate Airdogs. All day there will be local food and beverage vendors, kids' activities, and live music for all ages. At 4:30 PM, the main stage opens with Asheville’s Secret Agent 23 Skidoo as the emcee, followed by DJ Badonkey Kong and The Legendary Tuesday Night Funk Jam House Band, and a headline performance by The Pink Stones. Fireworks are set off closer to 9:30 p.m.
- South Asheville - Hosts its own fireworks display at Lake Julian on Saturday, June 29th but the fun will be happening all day long from noon until 10 PM. Bring a lawn chair and blanket and sit along the lake. Visitors can park across the street at Estes Elementary School on Long Shoals Road.
- Black Mountain Fireworks - The fireworks will once again be launched from behind the former Bi-Lo Grocery Store (behind Starbucks and The UPS Store). They will begin at dusk and can be viewed from various locations around town. The Swannanoa Valley Museum also hosts a Fireworks Hike to view the display from the mountaintop. Festivities in town begin around 7 PM on Thursday, July 4th.
- The town of Marion - Will have a 4th of July parade at 6 PM, followed by a street dance with live music at 7 PM., food vendors, and fireworks at 9:00 PM. Jumpin' Around will host its 3rd Annual Splash Bash Independence Day Celebration from 11 AM-6 PM on Saturday, July 6 at Tom Johnson Campground (348 Resistoflex Rd) just 10 minutes from downtown Marion. There will be obstacle courses, hourly foam parties, a dunk tank, a petting zoo, a 30 ft slip-n-slide, inflatables, fireworks, and so much more.
- Lake Lure - The Community Independence Celebration will take place on Saturday, July 6th from 6:30-9:30 PM at Lake Lure Beach and will include an all-you-can-eat southern cook-out, DJ & dancing, swimming, and joyous fireworks at dusk.
- Rumbling Bald Resort- Annual 4th of July Weekend Celebration kicks off Thursday, July 4 with a Beach Cookout, Marshmallow Roast, and spectacular fireworks show for their private guests. Luckily, the fireworks display can be enjoyed from the lake area.
- Lake James & Morganton -You can catch fireworks at Freedom Park on Thursday, July 4th starting at 9:45 PM from Freedom High School, the Soccer Complex at Catawba Meadows, Ingles parking lot, and other locations around the West side of Morganton. In Lake James, the fireworks for 1780/Camp Lake James will be on Saturday, July 6th between 9:30-9:45 PM.
- The Old Fort 4th of July Rodeo - Tradition continues on Wednesday, July 3rd, and Thursday, July 4th. There will be professional Bull Riding, Barrel Racing, Cowboy Action, and Wild West entertainment for the whole family. Food trucks will also be on hand to satisfy everyone's taste. Enjoy fireworks after the Rodeo on Thursday, July 4th!
Downtown Old Fort will have its annual fireworks show on Friday, July 5th on Catawba River Rd at dusk. - In Burnsville- PATH’s Sizzlin’ Summer Series with family-friendly activities will be happening in Town Square from 10 AM-12 PM followed by music & fireworks starting at 7 PM on Saturday, July 6th. The live performers are Brian Gurl & Friends.
