The 17th Annual Mermaid Parade and Festival, sponsored by The Downtown Marshall Association, The Town of Marshall, and The Madison County Tourism Development Authority, will take place in Downtown Marshall & the Island on Saturday, June 1 from 11 AM-10 PM. There will be 5 amazing parts again this year: Splash Island, Arts and Craft Market, Live Music, a Seafood Cook-Off, and the Parade.
Schedule:
- Splash Island from 11 AM-4 PM on Blannahassett Island. There will be a water slide, a bouncy house, an inflatable Slip-N-Slide, a toddler zone, and food vendors. Free for kids of all ages.
- Arts and Crafts Market from 11 PM-7 PM on Main Street. Buy treasures from local artisans, gypsies, and seafaring traders.
- Live Music from 12 PM-7 PM on Main Street. Shiver your timbers with great sounds from local artists. Ashley Heath 12-1 PM, Shoebees 1:30-3 PM, 75 Singlewide 3:30-5:30 PM, and White Oak Splits 6-8 PM.
- Seafood Cook-Off from 1:00-3:00 PM on Blannahassett Island. $15 gets you seafood tastings and a vote for the best pro or amateur cook. Kids 10 & Under $10. Canned food drive with Beacon of Hope food pantry, get $1 off your ticket for every can you donate. Your ticket is your vote! There will be beer and wine for purchase. You can purchase your entrance ticket at the door at 11 AM and drop off your cans so you don't have to carry them around all day!
- Mermaids Parade at 5:00 PM on Blannahasset Island. Pirate, Mermaid, and exotic creature costumes are encouraged! Instead of water guns and splash zones, there will be bubbles.
- Downtown Festivities until 10 PM. Meet a saucy wench or scurvy dog for some grog after the parade.
This event encourages you to dress up and celebrate your inner mermaid, pirate, or exotic creature, so shiver ye timbers and seas the day!
Please Note: There will be a shuttle traveling from Ingles to Main Street between 11 AM - 8 PM. Since parking will be extremely limited, the shuttle is highly encouraged.
