What better time to witness autumn’s colorful transformation of the Blue Ridge Mountains than at Biltmore House & Gardens? In autumn, the temperatures are cool and crisp, and the scenery is breathtaking, making it the perfect time to enjoy the estate's many outdoor events and activities:
- Horseback Trail Rides & Carriage Rides- Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced horseback rider, you're sure to enjoy an unforgettable guided expedition through beautiful woodlands on a horse chosen to match your skill level. If riding isn't quite your style, you can also relax in an elegant carriage drawn by Belgian draft horses as you take in striking views of Biltmore House and its 8,000-acre backyard.
- Rooftop Tour-This exclusive guided tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at the architecture and construction of Biltmore House in areas unavailable on the regular house visit (not to mention, it presents some fantastic photo opportunities). Take in stunning views seen only from the house’s rooftop and balconies, and imagine yourself as a member (or guest) of the Vanderbilt family. Limited to 12 guests per tour (advanced reservation required).
- Farm-to-Table Tour & Taste-This is the only tour that offers guest access to the estate’s West Side that includes looks at the estate’s Black Angus beef cattle and Berkshire hog facilities, hydroponic greenhouses, and picturesque vineyards. You'll ride aboard an air-conditioned shuttle while Biltmore’s agricultural experts share the history of the working farm’s innovative farming practices. During the experience, you'll enjoy a glass of Biltmore Wine and taste estate-grown delights. Please note that menu and tour details are subject to change seasonally based on harvest and product availability.
- Guided Bike Ride-This easy-paced adventure takes place along the French Broad River and the estate’s lush pastoral fields. The 3 to 5-mile ride includes a combination of flat paved trails, gravel-packed roads, and dirt trails. There will be occasional stops where your guide will share tidbits about the Vanderbilts, their guests, and the estate’s natural history.
- Live Music at the Bandstand-After a full day at the estate, unwind at Antler Hill Village as accomplished jazz, blues, rock, pop, swing, bluegrass, and rock duos, trios, and bands play 45-minute sets. Don't forget to grab a quick bite, a refreshing drink, or an ice cream before the performance! In October sets begin on the half-hour at 4:30 and until 8:15 p.m. (with the last set starting at 7:30).
These are just a handful of the many activities offered at the estate! You can explore all of the opportunities offered to guests on BIltmore's website.
